Rustic Warmth in an Urban Setting
The design approach for Breka Bakery hinged on solving a spatial paradox: how to make a voluminous former bank feel intimate and bakery-cozy. The answer came through layered interventions. Suspended wooden beams were hung from the high ceilings, visually lowering the perceived height while adding architectural rhythm. Diagonal whitewashed wood paneling on the rear wall adds texture while cleverly concealing bathroom doors from the customer seating area.
The showpiece is a full-wall custom shelving system crafted from wooden dowels, stretching across the entire length of the bakery. It displays fresh breads and pastries against the warmth of natural wood, turning functional storage into an ever-changing visual centerpiece. Vintage-style lighting and black accent details complete the rustic-modern palette –a space that feels both contemporary and timeless.
